Drawing on past projects that include forays into punk, blues, pop, folk, jazz, and funk, the stylistically promiscuous Fine Subterraneans bring you their very own blend of smartly-crafted indie rock. The Chicago based duo of singer/guitarist Matt Keane and drummer Mike McCulloch weave themes of outrage and fear seamlessly with the pursuit of joy and ecstatic release. You can expect these musicians to cut straight to the heart of the matter with aggressive melodies and clever, jazz-inflected rhythms.
Matthew Kopecky first started Oblio And Arrow in 2009. The Chicago native wrote, recorded and performed all the music on the debut album and 2011 release of “Thank God For Photons”.At it’s core, Oblio And Arrow is a ‘rock’ band, yet very far from your typical sounding ‘rock’ group. With heavy layers of percussion, a chorus of vocals, catchy pop hooks and a warm, ambient back drop, Oblio And Arrow definitely set themselves apart from the crowd.Since the 2011 release of the album “Thank God For Photons” Matthew Kopecky has been fortunate enough to assemble a cast of amazing musicians, completing the Oblio And Arrow project ‘ in the flesh ‘.Joining the ranks are Zach Biggus ( guitar ) Brian Whitebread ( guitar ) Mike Krieglstein ( Bass ) and Alex Rohwling ( Keyboards ) . Each of these players has brought his own unique flavor and talents to the group helping to bring all the energy, subtleties and passion of the Oblio And Arrow song book to life. The group is currently playing throughout and around the city of Chicago and is recording and preparing for their next album.
Twenty years ago, Zoot burst onto the Chicago music scene for a brief but memorable run of shows at some of the Windy City's finest music venues (with Martyrs being a personal band favorite). Chris Payne put them in high rotation on Q101's local show, and the band played an infamous acoustic set on the now-defunct WCBR ("The Bear"). Their sole CD, recorded at Soundworks while Smashing Pumpkins and Veruca Salt roamed the halls, was warmly received. The band recorded a follow-up EP at Chicago Recording Company, but alas broke up before it was ever mastered and released. In honor of the album's 20th anniversary, the band is reuniting for a one-night only event.
Great Ocean Waters is a Chicago based, 90's influenced Pop/Rock band. After a few brief lineup changes, GOW solidified its line up in the Spring of 2013 with the addition of vocalist Katie Byrne. Backed up by bassist Greg Parr and the Kreller brothers on guitar and drums, GOW moved very quickly into the studio to release its first two singles 'Candy' & 'The Real Sound' in the Summer of 2013 and began playing shows around Chicago. Since then, GOW has release three more singles (available on iTunes and Spotify), a live album, and two videos.
